Matthew is a clinical psychologist experienced in clinical research, program development, and implementation science. He has a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston and spent 16 years as a psychologist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As senior director of quality assurance for Lyra Health, he oversees the monitoring of quality and curation of a network of 6,500+ mental health providers.
Dr. Jesse Steinfeldt is a Professor of Counseling Psychology at Indiana University and a Sport Psychologist in private practice. His research interests center around gender role socialization of male student-athletes, American Indian empowerment, and intersections of multicultural psychology and sport psychology. He is currently conducting a $3mil NIH funded longitudinal study into the impact of subconcussive hits among adolescents who play high school football.
Dr. Steinfeldt has a professional duality, both as a Psychologist and a Professor. From a clinical perspective, Dr. Steinfeldt runs a private practice, Assessment Sport and Performance Psychology Services, LLC. In his role as a Professor at IU, Dr. Steinfeldt runs one of the nation’s top training facilities for Sport and Performance Psychology, providing curricular and clinical training and clinical supervision to the next generation of Sport and Performance Psychologists. Current doctoral students are providing clinical services at local high schools and universities as part of their training.
Jesse was born and raised in Green Bay, WI, and he is a former three sport student-athlete at Yale University who went on to play professionally in Europe for multiple years before starting his professional training in Sport Psychology. He and his wife Erica have three darling cherubs: Aaron (20), Addison (19), and Aidan (18).
