Performance reviews can be difficult for both employees and their managers. Negative or vague, unconstructive feedback may leave employees feeling disengaged. So how can you deliver a performance review with psychological safety in mind?
In a recent study*, 30% of employees who received a negative review began actively looking for new job opportunities. Vague and unconstructive positive feedback was also unhelpful. Around half of the employees surveyed who received positive feedback were still disengaged. The good news is that there’s a way to turn a performance review into an opportunity to engage, encourage, and coach employees to do their best work.
